Bio

Dr. Prahalathan KK is one of the co-founders of Bhumi. He was an ophthalmologist until the Chennai floods of 2015. His experiences during the flood prompted him to quit his medical practice and move to the social sector full-time.

He believes every child deserves a quality education. He is passionate about making volunteering a habit among young people. At Bhumi, he now guides volunteering, programme strategy, and fundraising.

He also now leads Ekam, an organisation working on improving Maternal and Child Health.

Bhumi is one of India’s largest volunteer organizations, engaging over 200,000 youth annually in education, environment, and civic action. Through its Bhumi Fellowship, Bhumi drives whole-school transformation across 300+ low-income schools, primarily in Tamil Nadu, reaching over 150,000 children.
